Another misconception that needs to be dispelled is that berberine is either turmeric or ashwagandha. Turmeric contains curcumin, ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb that is meant for use as an anti-stress supplement, while berberine is an alkaloid found in other plants. What Are the Health Benefits of Berberine?

Does berberine help with insulin resistance and PCOS?

Is Berberine Really "Nature's Ozempic"?

No, berberine is not "nature's Ozempic", and the nickname is misleading. Ozempic and similar GLP-1 medicines imitate a gut hormone that slows digestion and reduces appetite. Berberine does not do this at all; it works through AMPK, a metabolic pathway inside cells. The two affect body weight, if at all, through entirely different routes and on entirely different scales.

Why Don't Doctors Recommend Berberine?
