Frequently Asked Questions
A tincture is a concentrated liquid extract of a mushroom's active compounds, taken as drops rather than a capsule or powder. Our Lion's Mane and Cordyceps tinctures are hot-water extracted for a fast-absorbing, concentrated dose.
Not necessarily better - just different. Tinctures generally absorb faster and allow more precise dosing, while capsules are more convenient for a no-taste, no-mixing daily routine. It comes down to personal preference.
Take a measured dropper-full directly under the tongue, or mix it into water or tea. Our Cordyceps Liquid Extract is often taken before a workout, while Lion's Mane Liquid Extract works well in the morning.
Our tinctures are hot-water extracted rather than alcohol-based, making them suitable for people who prefer to avoid alcohol-based herbal extracts.
Like other natural supplements, tinctures work gradually with consistent use. We recommend at least 90 days of regular daily use to notice visible, lasting results.
Liquid Extract Supplements & Tinctures
A liquid extract is the fastest supplement format there is. A few drops under the tongue, no water, no scoop, no shaker to wash afterwards. Liquid extract supplements are the fastest format there is: drops under the tongue, no water, nothing to wash.
This page is a short guide. The full detail on dual extraction and how to choose a tincture sits in our main mushroom tinctures collection.
What We Stock
Lion's Mane liquid extract for focus, memory and nerve health, built around hericenones and beta-glucans.
Cordyceps militaris liquid extract for stamina and endurance, with the same benefit as the powder and none of the mixing.
Why Dual Extraction Matters in Liquid Extract Supplements
Medicinal mushrooms hold two groups of useful compounds that do not dissolve in the same solvent.
Beta-glucans and other water-soluble compounds need hot water, which also breaks down the chitin cell walls that human digestion cannot.
Triterpenes and certain sterols need alcohol, and water will not release them at all.
A single extraction captures one group. Dual extraction runs both and combines the results, which is more work, more expensive, and the reason a good tincture costs what it does.
How to Take Drops
Under the tongue is the standard method. Hold for twenty to thirty seconds before swallowing, which allows some absorption through the tissue there.
Or in a drink, if the taste is strong. You lose a little speed and none of the dose.
Use the dropper measure on the label rather than counting by eye. Tinctures are concentrated, which makes them easier to overdo than capsules.
Consistent timing. Both of ours suit the morning, and Cordyceps also works before training.
Who Tinctures Suit
Travellers, people who dislike swallowing capsules, anyone who wants the fastest possible route from decision to dose, and people already stacking several supplements who do not want to add another step.
Who they suit less: anyone who avoids alcohol entirely, since alcohol is one of the two solvents. If that applies to you, capsules are the right choice.
Storage
Keep tinctures tightly capped and upright, cool and out of direct sunlight. Do not leave a bottle in a car or on a sunny windowsill.
Do not touch the dropper to your mouth and then return it to the bottle. Drop under the tongue or into a spoon without contact.
Who Should Check First
Speak to your doctor before starting if you are pregnant or nursing, taking medication, managing a health condition, or if you avoid alcohol for medical reasons.
Where to Go Next
For the complete guide, including what to check on any tincture label, see our main mushroom tinctures and liquid extracts collection.
Concentration is both the advantage and the risk. Because liquid extract supplements pack a lot into a few millilitres, they are easier to overdo than capsules, which is why the dropper measure exists.
